What Do Students Learn in Grade 1 Math?

First grade is an important transition from early number sense to more structured mathematical reasoning. Students begin developing efficient addition and subtraction strategies, understanding tens and ones, comparing two-digit numbers, measuring and organizing data, telling time, and reasoning about two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes.
